The New York Mets have set a new benchmark in fan engagement and commercial performance, drawing a Citi Field-record 3,182,057 fans during the 2025 season. That equates to an average crowd of 39,775 per game, a 38% jump from last year’s average of 28,802.
The figure places the Mets fifth overall in MLB attendance heading into the final week of the regular season, highlighting both the team’s on-field momentum and its evolving off-field strategy.
What Drove the Surge?
Several key factors contributed to the record-breaking turnout:
- Star Power: The signing of superstar outfielder Juan Soto sparked unprecedented ticket demand, boosting season ticket and single-game sales.
- Playoff Momentum: The team’s 2024 postseason run created a carryover effect, heightening excitement and expectations for 2025.
- Fan-Centric Strategy: The Mets placed an increased emphasis on fan feedback, introducing improvements to enhance the overall Citi Field experience. Targeted surveys over recent seasons provided insights that were acted upon, from food and beverage upgrades to in-stadium entertainment.
Revenue Impact
The attendance boom translated directly into financial growth. By June 30, the Mets reported $146.5 million in ballpark-related revenue, an 11.7% increase over the same period in 2024. With 19 sellouts and nearly 60% of home games drawing more than 40,000 fans, the franchise believes it has established a sustainable model for strong box office performance.
Long-Term Outlook
Mets executives remain confident that the club is “poised for a long period of success at the box office, regardless of how things work out on the field in 2025.” By leveraging a combination of marquee player acquisitions, playoff competitiveness, and a relentless focus on the fan experience, the Mets have created one of MLB’s most resilient attendance models.
