The FA Cup, England’s iconic domestic knockout competition, has found a new broadcast home in Germany as DAZN secures exclusive rights for the 2025 to 2028 seasons. The deal also includes coverage of the Community Shield, the traditional season opener contested between the Premier League and FA Cup champions.
DAZN’s new cycle kicked off with the recent Community Shield match at Wembley, where Crystal Palace triumphed over Liverpool on penalties following a 2-2 draw. This marked the return of live FA Cup coverage to German audiences after a season’s absence when no broadcaster secured the rights.
Prior to the 2024-25 season, DAZN had been the FA Cup rights holder in Germany but lost the rights for a season. Their return now restores one of England’s most prestigious competitions to their growing sports portfolio in the German market.
In Germany, rights to England’s top-flight Premier League and the EFL Championship remain with pay-TV leader Sky. DAZN, meanwhile, recently extended its contract for LaLiga rights in Germany and Austria by five years, reinforcing its strong position in European football broadcasting.
Domestically, DAZN co-holds rights to the Bundesliga alongside Sky, maintaining a broad offering of top European football to German subscribers.
