Wolves Esports—the dedicated esports arm of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club and a subsidiary of Fosun Sports—has announced a major strategic investment from Chongqing Lvfazhiye Group Co., Ltd. (Lvfa Group). This funding will be used to construct a state-of-the-art esports venue in the Bishan District of Chongqing, China, as well as to expand the organization’s competitive and commercial capabilities.

A 200 Million RMB Commitment to Physical Infrastructure

With a total planned investment of 200 million RMB (~£20.7 million), the new Wolves Esports venue is set to span 10,000 square meters and will accommodate up to 2,000 spectators. Construction is already underway, and the facility is expected to open by the end of the year.

This new venue follows Wolves’ successful development of its first 1,500-square-meter home base for staff and players in Chongqing. That space has already hosted over 130 offline events since 2023, including Honor of Kings matches and national DOTA tournaments—attracting 200,000+ fans and injecting nearly 100 million RMB (~£10.3 million) into the local economy.

Expanding the Wolves Brand Through Competitive Excellence

Wolves Esports is already active across multiple titles:

  • Honor of Kings (KPL)
  • VALORANT
  • QQ Speed
  • Identity V
  • Naraka: Bladepoint
  • Call of Duty: Mobile
  • FC Online

Its VALORANT division in particular is punching above its weight internationally—most recently reaching the Top 4 at VCT Masters Toronto, establishing Wolves as a rising force on the global stage.

Strategic Vision: “Esports + City”

According to Deng Houjun, President of Fosun Sports, the vision for Wolves Esports goes far beyond just competitions:

“We hope to use this financing as a springboard to deepen our ‘esports + city’ integrated industry model… Through diversified commercial models and deep integration with urban industries, Wolves Esports is poised to become a globally influential esports brand.”

The organization aims to develop a “tournament-content-commerce” trinity model, fueling a broader digital ecosystem that can attract sponsorships, build fandoms, and generate sustained economic impact.
