The Supercars Championship has confirmed a landmark AUS$200 million broadcast rights extension with Foxtel Group and Seven West Media, securing the domestic media future of Australia’s premier touring car series from 2026.
Record-Breaking Agreement
The new contract, valued at AUS$50 million (US$32.6 million) annually over four years, is being hailed as a “record-breaking broadcast deal.” It surpasses the current five-year package, worth AUS$165 million, and reaffirms the category’s commercial strength in a competitive media landscape.
Under the new agreement:
- Every race will remain live and ad-break free on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
- Marquee events, including the Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500, will be shown free-to-air on Seven.
- Coverage promises “unprecedented access,” enhancing the league’s visibility and audience reach.
Supercars chief executive James Warburton described the extension as a transformative moment:

Aligning with Growth and Expansion
The new rights cycle coincides with one of the most significant evolutions in Supercars’ history. From 2026, Toyota—the world’s largest car manufacturer—will officially join the championship on an initial five-year commitment. Supercars will also expand its geographical footprint:
- A Christchurch debut on New Zealand’s South Island as part of a Trans-Tasman double-header.
- Introduction of a revamped Finals Series.

Complementing the Australian deal, Supercars has already signed a four-year broadcast extension with Sky in New Zealand, ensuring continuity for fans across both countries.

While this extension delivers an uplift from the current AUS$165 million agreement, it still falls short of the AUS$241 million package previously secured with Foxtel and Network Ten, which expired in 2020. However, the new contract does exceed the annualized value of that arrangement and places Supercars ahead of other major properties in Australia.
For example, Foxtel’s exclusive Formula One rights reportedly cost AUS$45 million annually—meaning Supercars’ per-season valuation is higher than F1’s in the local market.
This demonstrates both the domestic strength of Supercars and the enduring pull of marquee events like Bathurst.
