Pan-regional broadcaster SPOTV has further strengthened its position in Asia’s sports media landscape by securing new rights deals for two major properties: golf’s Ryder Cup and Australia’s Volleyball Super League.
Ryder Cup Coverage
SPOTV has acquired rights to air the 2025 Ryder Cup, golf’s iconic team competition between Europe and the United States, set to take place at Bethpage Black, New York, from September 26 to 28.
The broadcaster will showcase the event across ten markets: Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Macau, Laos, Myanmar, and Mongolia. Coverage will be available through both SPOTV’s linear TV channels and its SPOTV NOW streaming service, ensuring accessibility across multiple platforms.
This deal brings one of golf’s most prestigious properties to Asian audiences at a time when the sport is seeking deeper global penetration, particularly in non-traditional markets.
Volleyball Super League Rights
In addition to golf, SPOTV has secured rights to the 2025 Volleyball Super League, Australia’s premier indoor volleyball competition. The season, running from September 20 to November 2, will be broadcast across 12 markets including Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Myanmar, Brunei, and Mongolia.
Notably, the competition has strong Southeast Asian relevance, with Adjani Zahra, an emerging Indonesian player, representing NSW Phoenix. This creates a localized hook for fans across the region, potentially accelerating volleyball’s popularity.
Strategic Expansion in Asia
The new rights come on the back of Eclat Media Group’s May expansion of SPOTV NOW into seven new Asian markets — Macau, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Mongolia, and Taiwan — bringing the platform’s reach to 15 countries.
SPOTV’s portfolio now includes:
- Motorsport: MotoGP, WorldSBK, Formula E
- Football: Saudi Pro League, A-League, Thai League 1
- Golf: The Masters, The Open, and now the Ryder Cup
- Other sports: Badminton World Federation events, World Table Tennis, Korean Baseball League
This breadth of rights positions SPOTV as a pan-regional challenger brand, competing with established players by offering a diverse mix of premium and emerging sports.
