Sorare, the blockchain-powered fantasy sports platform, has announced a new partnership with LFP Media, the commercial division of French professional football. The agreement grants Sorare the rights to produce and distribute official digital player cards from both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, adding France’s top two divisions to its global roster of partnerships.
Through this deal, Sorare users can buy, trade, and collect non-fungible token (NFT) cards of players across all French clubs. These cards, which reflect real-life performance data, are then used to build fantasy teams on Sorare’s platform.
Strengthening Sorare’s Home Market
Sorare has already opened its marketplace for Ligue 1 cards, with over 1.3 million cards traded by 100,000 users since August 4. The tie-up strengthens Sorare’s presence in France while adding to its international reach, where it now boasts over 300 partnerships spanning the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Eredivisie, and major clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
Nicolas Julia, Sorare’s co-founder and CEO, described the partnership as “a key step” in showcasing French football to Sorare’s six million global users, while LFP Media’s Martin Jaglin highlighted how it complements the league’s wider digital ecosystem—including fantasy game MonPetitGazon, predictor game MonPetitProno, the official Ligue 1 app, and the Ligue 1+ OTT platform.
NFTs as a Sports Entertainment Asset
Since its launch in 2018, Sorare has established itself as one of the leaders in sports-based NFTs, with player cards selling for anywhere between a few dollars and six figures—Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sorare card once sold for over $100,000.
Backed by investors such as SoftBank, Accel, and Benchmark, as well as sports stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Serena Williams, Sorare’s mission is to blend fantasy gaming with sports fandom, offering both digital ownership and interactive engagement.
This latest deal also arrives as Sorare extends club-level partnerships, such as its recent renewal with AS Monaco for another two years.
The Strategic Value of Sorare’s Deal
At 365247, we see this partnership as a strong case study in how digital collectibles and fan engagement tools are reshaping football’s commercial landscape:
- Leagues as Digital Content Hubs – Partnerships like this extend fan touchpoints beyond live games, turning leagues into year-round entertainment ecosystems.
- Fan Data + Engagement – Blockchain-based platforms generate granular insights on fan behavior, which can be leveraged by leagues and sponsors.
- Global Market Reach – Sorare’s six million users across 180 countries offer leagues a distribution channel far beyond traditional broadcast.
- Revenue Diversification – With sponsorship, ticketing, and broadcasting revenues under pressure, digital licensing deals are becoming vital new income streams.
