NBC Sports has further strengthened its hold on elite aquatic sports by renewing its U.S. broadcast partnership with World Aquatics through 2028 — a move that positions the network to build continuity with fans and athletes in the lead-up to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
The renewed agreement ensures NBC will continue to air flagship events such as the World Aquatics Championships, the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m), and the Swimming World Cup series. The deal, brokered by Sportfive, reinforces NBC’s strategy of locking in long-term sports content across both its traditional broadcast channels and its streaming platform, Peacock.
Beyond swimming, the agreement also covers major competitions in diving, artistic swimming, and high diving — including global fixtures like the Diving World Cup and Artistic Swimming World Cup Super Final. These properties will add to NBC’s expanding live sports slate, which already includes Olympic coverage through 2036.
With the 2027 World Aquatics Championships confirmed for Budapest and the 2026 short-course Worlds scheduled in Beijing, NBC Sports gains exclusive access to key milestones on the road to LA 2028. World Aquatics sees the partnership as vital in maintaining consistent visibility for its athletes, particularly in the U.S. — a core market for both commercial growth and Olympic momentum.
This deal aligns strategically with NBC’s existing coverage of USA Swimming and the 2028 U.S. Olympic Trials, enabling the network to create a cohesive narrative from domestic qualifiers to global championships.
At a time when broadcasters are doubling down on premium live content and federations are fighting for year-round relevance, this extension reflects a deeper trend: the fusion of long-term event partnerships with multi-platform storytelling to build global sports audiences.
