MySports Secures Exclusive NHL Rights in Switzerland for 2025-26

Swiss pay-TV broadcaster MySports has strengthened its ice hockey dominance by securing an exclusive deal with the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 2025-26 season. The partnership will make MySports the primary home for elite North American hockey in Switzerland, broadcasting more than 300 NHL fixtures throughout the campaign.

A Comprehensive NHL Package

Beginning with the season opener on October 7, 2025, MySports will deliver:

  • Full coverage of the regular season
  • Every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs
  • The entire Stanley Cup Finals

To boost uptake, MySports is offering a discounted annual package until October 6, ahead of the first puck drop.

Integration with Existing Broadcast Ecosystem

This new deal is designed to complement the NHL’s wider media strategy in Switzerland:

  • Free-to-air highlights will continue to air on CH Media’s TV24, ensuring mass-market visibility.
  • The NHL’s own NHL.TV international platform is available through DAZN, which is also distributed via the Sunrise TV platform—linking directly with MySports’ parent company, Sunrise UPC.

This layered approach ensures that Swiss fans can access live action, highlights, and digital streaming seamlessly across platforms.

Why Switzerland Matters for the NHL

Switzerland is one of Europe’s most passionate and commercially viable ice hockey markets. The NHL has prioritized it in recent years by:

  • Hosting pre-season exhibition games against Swiss National League sides, most recently in 2022.
  • Featuring more than 10 active Swiss players in the league, including Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi, a four-time NHL All-Star and one of the most prominent Europeans in the sport.

This deep national player pool enhances the NHL’s local relevance and boosts audience connection to the league.

MySports’ Consolidation of Ice Hockey Rights

The NHL acquisition further cements MySports as the country’s flagship ice hockey broadcaster. In August 2025, Sunrise UPC struck an eight-year extension through 2035 for exclusive rights to the Swiss National League, with select free-to-air sublicensing to CH Media.

Alongside the NHL, MySports also holds:

  • Exclusive Swiss rights to the Champions Hockey League (CHL), showing all games.
  • Shared coverage agreements with public broadcaster SRG, which steps in if a Swiss team reaches the semi-finals or finals.

Swiss fans have seen direct success on the European stage too: the ZSC Lions captured the 2024-25 Champions Hockey League title, further fueling momentum for the sport.

The 365247 View

This deal positions MySports not just as a local broadcaster, but as an ice hockey powerhouse with global reach. By blending domestic (National League), continental (CHL), and international (NHL) rights, MySports offers a 360-degree ice hockey product unmatched in the Swiss market.

For the NHL, the partnership reflects a smart localization strategy:

  • Secure a premium pay-TV partner to monetize core audiences
  • Maintain free-to-air exposure via highlights to grow casual fans
  • Integrate digital distribution (DAZN) to capture younger, mobile-first viewers

It’s a multi-tiered rights structure designed to balance reach, revenue, and fan development in a country where hockey already commands cultural significance.
