Lancashire Cricket Launches LancsTV: A Strategic Leap Into In-House StreamingSource: Insider Sport

Lancashire Cricket has taken a bold step toward direct-to-consumer media ownership with the launch of LancsTV, a dedicated OTT streaming platform developed in collaboration with StreamAMG. The service, which went live on July 10, delivers live coverage of all non-televised men’s and women’s home domestic fixtures — and is being positioned as a central hub for exclusive video content, fan engagement, and digital storytelling.

Accessible free of charge to fans who register or use their existing membership credentials, LancsTV also promises a premium tier — LancsTV+ — which will offer enhanced, members-only experiences in the future. However, according to Lancashire Cricket Chief Executive Daniel Gidney, the core service will remain free of paywalls, underlining the club’s commitment to accessibility and supporter value.

“One of the driving factors behind the development of LancsTV is to provide increased value to the Club’s Members, through the quality of our production and exclusive content,” Gidney told Insider Sport.

“The platform is designed to enhance the supporter experience of following Lancashire Cricket and marks a major step forward in how we engage with our fanbase.”

From YouTube Utility to Digital Ownership

Until now, clubs like Lancashire had relied heavily on YouTube to livestream matches not picked up by broadcasters such as Sky Sports. While the open-access platform offered reach, it lacked flexibility. Key limitations included restricted viewer data, generic user experiences, and minimal brand control.

By bringing streaming in-house, Lancashire is now in control of the full digital pipeline — from content packaging and UX to CRM integration and commercial strategy. This allows for:

  • Direct data capture and segmentation
  • Customised content programming
  • Enhanced partner inventory
  • Cross-promotion of ticketing, merchandise, and memberships

This is not just about tech. It’s about controlling the narrative.

The First Broadcast & What’s Next

LancsTV streamed its debut live match on July 13 — a Men’s Vitality Blast fixture — exclusively through the platform. For the remainder of the season, games will be dual-streamed via LancsTV and YouTube, ensuring maximum visibility while nudging fans toward the club’s owned ecosystem.

The longer-term goal appears clear: build a direct fan media product, deepen loyalty, and ultimately, reduce reliance on third-party distribution partners.

Lancashire Cricket’s launch of LancsTV signals a broader trend across sport: rights holders becoming media houses. As platforms like YouTube and Twitter democratised content, they also showed clubs what they were missing — real-time data, direct monetization potential, and full creative control.

For teams in cricket, football, and beyond, the message is simple:
Why rent your audience when you can own it?

LancsTV is not just a streaming platform. It’s an infrastructure investment into a 365-day fan relationship.
