Glasgow 2026 Appoints Trivandi as Official Event Delivery Partner for Commonwealth Games

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games organizing committee has confirmed Trivandi as its official event delivery partner for next year’s edition.

The events specialist, which has played a role in delivering the last three Commonwealth Games, will manage venue operations and oversee temporary games infrastructure for the Scottish city’s staging of the event.

Compact Venue Footprint

The 2026 Games will utilize seven venues spread across just four locations within 4.6 miles of Glasgow city centre. The lineup includes:

  • The Hydro (12,306 seats) – artistic gymnastics and netball
  • Scotstoun Stadium (9,704 seats) – athletics
  • The Scottish Events Campus – host to seven different sports

This highly concentrated layout is expected to create intense footfall in a small geographic area, making the operational expertise of Trivandi essential.

Local Recruitment Drive

As part of its commitment, Trivandi plans to recruit up to 250 roles, prioritizing hires from the Glasgow area to support delivery of the Games.

The company’s experience extends far beyond the Commonwealth Games — it has contributed to every Olympic Games since 2012 and to the last three FIFA World Cups.

Scaled-Down but Ambitious

Glasgow 2026 will be a streamlined edition of the Games, featuring 10 sports and para versions of six disciplines. The program will include:

  • Athletics (track & field)
  • Swimming
  • Artistic gymnastics
  • Netball
  • Weightlifting
  • Boxing
  • Judo
  • Bowls
  • 3×3 basketball
  • Para-track cycling, para-athletics, para-swimming, para-powerlifting, para-bowls, and wheelchair 3×3 basketball

The event runs from July 22 to August 2, 2026, marking the city’s second time as host in 12 years.

No Public Funding Model

In a first for the Games, the event will proceed without public funding. Instead, it will be financed through sponsorship deals and compensation received from Victoria, Australia, following its withdrawal as host.

Commonwealth Sport chief executive Katie Sadleir described Glasgow’s approach as a “pioneering example” of responsible event hosting — a move that has already inspired seven letters of interest for the 2030 Games.

A New Direction for the Commonwealth Games

The 2026 edition will be the first staged under the Commonwealth Games Federation’s revised hosting framework, which emphasizes:

  1. Flexibility for host cities to shape their Games and legacy outcomes.
  2. Lower hosting costs by maximizing existing venues and infrastructure.
  3. An innovative, inclusive, and engaging sports program that resonates with athletes, spectators, and participating nations.

With its compact footprint, financially sustainable model, and focus on community engagement, Glasgow 2026 could set a new benchmark for major multi-sport events.
