Formula One has confirmed a 10-year contract extension for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, ensuring the event remains on the global calendar until 2034. The renewal cements Austin’s status as the spiritual home of F1 in America — a partnership that has already generated US$7 billion in economic impact across its first decade.
A Billion-Dollar Boost for Texas
Since debuting in 2012, the U.S. Grand Prix has become one of the most commercially successful stops on the Formula One circuit. The 2023 event alone contributed over US$1 billion in direct and indirect spending to the Texas economy, while generating US$38 million in state tax revenue.
“Each year, the event at the Circuit of The Americas stands out as a true highlight for fans, drivers, and teams alike,” said Stefano Domenicali, Formula One’s CEO. “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Bobby Epstein and the leadership in Texas, whose support has been instrumental in growing the sport’s presence in the U.S.”
Bobby Epstein, COTA’s chairman, added, “The United States Grand Prix has become one of the world’s biggest single-weekend sporting events, and with this new deal, COTA will surpass Watkins Glen as the longest-serving Formula One track in America.”
F1’s Expanding U.S. Footprint
The Austin event now sits alongside Las Vegas and Miami as part of F1’s triple-U.S. lineup — an unprecedented presence in one of the sport’s fastest-growing markets. The series’ American fanbase has grown to 52 million, up 11% year-on-year, with nearly half of new fans aged 18–24 and more than half identifying as female.
This surge is bolstered by F1’s recently confirmed US$750 million broadcast deal with Apple, beginning in 2026, which will bring every race, sprint, and qualifying session to Apple TV+ subscribers at no extra cost — alongside access to F1 TV Premium.

The Austin extension is more than a race contract; it’s a statement of intent. Formula One is no longer experimenting with the U.S. — it’s embedding itself within the nation’s sports and entertainment economy. COTA’s billion-dollar impact, youthful fan demographics, and streaming alignment with Apple illustrate a sport that has mastered the art of turning culture into commerce.
