DAZN has taken another significant step toward positioning itself as the leading global sports streaming platform, securing worldwide highlights rights for Spain’s top-tier LaLiga.
Under a newly announced two-year agreement, DAZN will deliver short highlights from every LaLiga fixture across the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons. The coverage begins immediately, with free-to-air access to post-match action from the opening clash between Girona and Rayo Vallecano later today.
A Dedicated LaLiga Channel on DAZN
The partnership includes the creation of an official LaLiga channel within DAZN’s ecosystem. This channel will host match highlights, clips, and original editorial content, enhancing the league’s global presence and strengthening DAZN’s reputation as a digital-first football hub.
This deal extends DAZN’s ongoing domestic coverage of LaLiga in Spain (alongside Movistar) through 2026/27 and builds on its established rights portfolio in major markets such as Germany, Italy, and Japan.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas described DAZN as the “ideal home” for the competition’s content, citing its global scale and ability to connect with millions of fans. DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev emphasized that the deal underscores DAZN’s commitment to making elite football more accessible worldwide while solidifying its ambition to be the “global home of football.”
Media Rights Expansion Beyond DAZN
This announcement arrives amid a period of heightened international media rights activity for LaLiga. Earlier this month, the league confirmed a new UK and Ireland distribution model, with Disney+ entering the mix alongside Premier Sports.
- Disney+ will showcase one exclusive Saturday evening match each week for three seasons.
- Premier Sports will remain the primary broadcaster, delivering more than 340 fixtures annually across linear and streaming channels.
- Sky Sports has also secured rights to LaLiga highlights in the UK until 2027/28, including in-game clips and round summaries.
Disney replaces ITV as LaLiga’s free-to-air partner in the UK, further reflecting the league’s shift toward streaming-first distribution strategies.
A League With Star Power
LaLiga enters the new season with a host of high-profile England internationals in its ranks, including Jude Bellingham, Marcus Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Conor Gallagher. Their presence is expected to boost viewership across English-speaking markets and enhance the league’s global marketability.
Strategic Implications
This rights deal highlights three key dynamics shaping the sports media landscape:
- Streaming platforms as global gateways – DAZN continues to leverage highlights as a mass-access entry point to funnel fans into its paid ecosystem.
- Multi-platform distribution models – LaLiga is spreading risk and maximizing visibility by working simultaneously with OTT, pay-TV, and free-to-air broadcasters.
- Player-driven growth – The presence of English talent in LaLiga significantly strengthens its commercial pull in the UK and beyond.
As competition for global football audiences intensifies, this agreement positions DAZN not just as a streaming service, but as a central hub for official football content worldwide.
