Catapult Sports Ltd (ASX:CAT) has announced the acquisition of IMPECT GmbH, a leading German soccer analytics company, in a move designed to expand its dominance in global football performance data and intelligence. The deal, worth up to €78 million (US$91 million), includes €40 million upfront and €38 million in performance-based payments spread over four years.
To finance the transaction and support its broader growth plans, Catapult has launched a fully underwritten institutional placement worth A$130 million (US$84 million), alongside a non-underwritten Share Purchase Plan aiming to raise an additional A$20 million (US$13 million).
Catapult CEO Will Lopes said the acquisition represents a major step in building a unified intelligence ecosystem that merges performance tracking, video analysis, and tactical data.
“By integrating IMPECT’s software with Catapult’s athlete performance and video analysis suites, we are creating a unified platform that deepens insights for clubs and federations globally,” Lopes said.
The move will strengthen Catapult’s position within elite football, as teams increasingly rely on analytics for scouting, tactical preparation, and performance optimization. IMPECT’s deep tactical data will complement Catapult’s wearable and video tools, enabling the company to deliver end-to-end data solutions for player evaluation and team strategy.
IMPECT’s subscription-based model — achieving a 73% Rule of 40 score — is expected to bolster Catapult’s profitability, with the company planning to leverage cross-selling across its network of 4,600 elite teams in over 100 countries.
In its latest financial update, Catapult reported annualised contract value (ACV) between US$115.3 and US$115.6 million, up 19% year-on-year, and revenue growth of 15–16% for the six months ending September 2025. The company reaffirmed its FY26 outlook, projecting sustained growth, improved margins, and stronger cash flow through technology scaling and strategic acquisitions.
The acquisition — set to close within 15 business days — marks another milestone in Catapult’s strategy of combining organic innovation with selective M&A to solidify its leadership in the global sports analytics and performance technology industry.
