World Boxing has officially partnered with Double D, the global licensee of adidas Combat Sports, as one of its newly accredited equipment manufacturers. The move marks a strategic leap in the sport’s commitment to safety, performance, and modernisation — backed by one of the most recognisable brands in global athletics.
A Rigorous Path to Accreditation
The decision follows a comprehensive vetting process. adidas-branded gloves, headgear, and other combat equipment underwent an extensive series of independent chemical and technical tests. These trials assessed product durability, impact resilience, material quality, and environmental compliance — all key performance and safety benchmarks for international competition.
The result: adidas Combat Sports is now officially eligible to supply gear for events governed by World Boxing’s framework — from continental championships to multi-sport showcases such as the Olympic Games.
Strategic Scope and Shared Vision
The agreement, valid until 2028, is part of a wider initiative to expand World Boxing’s roster of accredited suppliers. adidas Combat Sports is not replacing the current exclusive competition partner, Sting, which remains the official supplier for core events including the World Boxing Cup and U19/Elite World Championships.
Instead, the inclusion of adidas reflects World Boxing’s growing ecosystem model — one that rewards rigorous standards and diversifies supply options for national federations and event organisers alike.
Christophe Dessalles, Managing Director of Double D, said the collaboration reinforces a shared ambition to elevate boxing through innovation, athlete safety, and global development. For adidas, this builds on its long-standing Olympic pedigree, having supplied boxing equipment at the 2008, 2012, and 2024 Summer Games.
A Broader Shift in the Boxing Economy
This announcement is not just about product supply — it’s about brand positioning in the evolving combat sports economy. By aligning with World Boxing, adidas reaffirms its influence within Olympic-style boxing and positions itself for relevance ahead of LA28 and beyond.
From World Boxing’s perspective, this deal further solidifies its identity as a federation rooted in transparency, governance, and elite performance standards — values increasingly central to boxing’s commercial future.
Global Distribution Meets Technical Excellence
Operating in over 100 countries, adidas Combat Sports brings both scale and depth to the partnership. The company’s portfolio spans boxing, judo, taekwondo, karate, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu — a multi-disciplinary lens that mirrors the convergence now seen across combat sports media and sponsorship.
As the sport seeks to engage new audiences, improve athlete welfare, and attract fresh commercial partners, the adidas–World Boxing relationship sets a powerful precedent: gear isn’t just equipment — it’s infrastructure.
