Bayern Munich Opens New Office in Seoul to Strengthen Asian Expansion

German soccer powerhouse Bayern Munich has officially opened a new office in Seoul, South Korea, furthering its commitment to expanding its footprint in Asia.

The Bundesliga club described the move as a way to “strengthen their presence in an important growth region of Asia and aim to further expand their economic and social ties in South Korea.” The office is based within the German-Korean Chamber of Industry and Commerce and will be led by Dong-Hoon Seo, Business Development Manager at Bayern Munich.

Strengthening Ties with South Korea

Bayern’s decision comes at a strategic time. The club currently features South Korean international Min-jae Kim, who has quickly become a fan favorite. In 2024, Bayern also played in Seoul for the first time as part of their Audi Summer Tour, highlighting the growing demand for top European football in the country.

The Bavarian giants already enjoy strong commercial ties in South Korea, including a long-term partnership with Nexen Tire, and a development agreement with the South Korean Football Association established in 2019. Earlier this month, Bayern also partnered with Jeju SK FC and Los Angeles FC on a youth development initiative, signaling deeper engagement in nurturing the next generation of talent.

Why It Matters

South Korea is one of Asia’s most dynamic football markets, with a passionate fanbase, a strong youth pipeline, and increasing commercial investment in global sport. Bayern’s expansion into Seoul not only strengthens its brand visibility but also cements its role in youth development, sponsorship growth, and cultural exchange in the region.

With Bundesliga rivals and other European clubs also eyeing Asia as a growth market, Bayern’s move underscores the importance of early, authentic market presence to build long-term fan loyalty and commercial partnerships.
