McLaren Racing Brings Groq Onboard as Official Partner

McLaren Racing has unveiled a new partnership with Groq, a leading AI inference provider, making the company an Official Partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team.

The collaboration will see Groq’s custom-built Language Processing Unit (LPU) technology integrated into McLaren’s operations. Designed specifically for AI inference, the LPU will provide cost-efficient, high-performance compute power to support McLaren’s need for real-time insights, sharper analysis, and smarter decision-making both on and off the track.

For a sport where every millisecond counts, the ability to harness AI-driven intelligence could provide McLaren with a competitive edge. From race strategy to car development, Groq’s systems are expected to supercharge data processingand improve efficiency across McLaren’s performance infrastructure.

Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer of McLaren Racing, commented:
“Formula 1 is about performance under pressure, so we’re excited to begin working with Groq to help deliver inference at the speed we need to support us in our efforts to stay at the front of the grid.”

Chelsey Susin Kantor, Chief Marketing Officer of Groq, added:
“McLaren and Groq share the same foundations: speed, precision, and the efficiency needed to win. We’re proud to deliver the high-performance, low-cost compute that fuels McLaren on the track and beyond.”

Fans will see the Groq logo on McLaren’s race cars starting from the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix.

Why This Matters?

  • AI as a Competitive Advantage: F1 teams are shifting from raw horsepower to computational horsepower. Partnerships like this highlight how data processing speed is as vital as car speed.
  • Cost-Efficient Intelligence: With F1’s strict cost cap, Groq’s ability to provide low-cost, high-performance compute aligns with the sport’s financial and operational realities.
  • Beyond Motorsport: This collaboration showcases how AI-inference technology is moving from cloud labs to real-world performance industries, reinforcing motorsport as a testbed for cutting-edge tech.
  • Brand Positioning: For Groq, aligning with McLaren embeds the brand in a global narrative of innovation, performance, and precision — powerful traits to transfer into wider enterprise markets.

The line between technology and sport is disappearing fast. Partnerships like McLaren x Groq show how AI will redefine performance culture across industries. The only question is: which sector will take the next big leap?
