Global subscription streaming service DAZN has secured exclusive rights to broadcast German soccer’s Bundesliga for the upcoming three seasons, covering the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28 campaigns. This comprehensive agreement grants DAZN the rights to stream all nine Bundesliga matches each matchweek, spanning all 34 rounds of the league.
The deal, finalized with Bundesliga International—the league’s global distribution arm—was announced on August 8. It also includes coverage of the German Supercup, kicking off on August 16, featuring reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich against last season’s DFB-Pokal winners VfB Stuttgart.
DAZN’s partnership extends beyond international markets, as the platform holds domestic German streaming rights through the 2028-29 season. This solidifies DAZN’s role as a key player in Bundesliga broadcasting on both domestic and global fronts.
In Japan, where Bundesliga has a passionate fan base, the rights had previously been held by the streaming service Abema via a sublicensing agreement with Sky PerfecTV, which expired at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. This market is especially significant due to the presence of notable Japanese players like Bayern Munich’s Hiroki Itō and Eintracht Frankfurt’s recent signing, Ritsu Dōan.
Peer Naubert, CEO of Bundesliga International, emphasized the growing influence of Japanese talent in the league: “With 10 Japanese players transferring to Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2 clubs in the summer of 2025 alone, DAZN’s partnership will bring their stories closer to fans in Japan through world-class football, authentic storytelling, and a tailored viewing experience.”
The Bundesliga continues to strengthen its media partnerships. Recently, the league extended its contract with Sky Italia for four more seasons. Sky Italia will remain the exclusive television broadcaster for Bundesliga matches in Italy, covering the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, the German Supercup, and relegation playoffs.
The new Bundesliga season officially begins on August 22, with Bayern Munich facing RB Leipzig. In Germany, live coverage will be jointly provided by Sky Deutschland and DAZN.
Additionally, DAZN Japan recently renewed its rights deal with Belgium’s Pro League and maintains broadcasting rights for other major European leagues, including those in Spain, Italy, and France, reinforcing DAZN’s expanding footprint in European football broadcasting.
