Citigroup is doubling down on its U.S. presence, announcing a major expansion in Charlotte, North Carolina, with 510 new jobs and a $16.1 million investment into a new office facility in Mecklenburg County.
The announcement, confirmed by North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, marks a strategic move by Citi to grow its operations in personal banking, finance, and marketing — even as the broader industry leans into digital transformation.
Why Charlotte?
“Charlotte stood out as a location where we had a unique opportunity to invest by establishing a formal presence,” said Edward Skyler, Citigroup’s head of enterprise services & public affairs.
Often dubbed the second-largest banking hub in the U.S., Charlotte offers Citi access to a skilled workforce, strong financial services infrastructure, and proximity to other major industry players. The average salary for the new roles is projected at $131,832, reinforcing the high-value nature of the expansion.
